There are two ways to obtain a goat from Hilltop Haven Farmstead: reserving an unborn or future kid, or purchasing an available kid or mature goat. These Farm Policies apply to all reservations and purchases.

Companionship and Herd Requirements
Hilltop Haven Farmstead will not sell a goat to be housed alone. Buyer represents that the goat will be housed with at least one other compatible goat or that Buyer will purchase multiple goats as part of the same transaction. Buyer agrees not to intentionally house the goat alone after purchase. Goats are herd animals and require other goats for companionship. This policy applies to all placements.
Transportation & Pickup
Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for transportation from Hilltop Haven Farmstead. Risk of loss, responsibility for the animal, and responsibility for transportation transfer to Buyer when the animal is released to Buyer or Buyer’s designated transporter. Hilltop Haven Farmstead is not responsible for transportation, transport-related illness, injury, death, delay, or loss after the animal has left the farm.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the animal must be picked up by the pickup deadline specified by Hilltop Haven Farmstead. A boarding fee of $3 per goat per day will be charged for each day the goat remains at Hilltop Haven Farmstead after the pickup deadline. Hilltop Haven Farmstead may require payment of all accrued boarding fees before releasing the animal.
If Buyer fails to arrange pickup within 7 days after the pickup deadline specified by Hilltop Haven Farmstead, Hilltop Haven Farmstead may, at its option, treat the transaction as abandoned, retain the deposit, and offer the animal for sale to another buyer. Any accrued boarding fees remain due and payable.
Buyer is responsible for determining the requirements for transporting the animal to its destination, including any required health certificates, testing, identification, permits, or other documentation. Buyer is responsible for all costs associated with meeting those requirements unless otherwise agreed in writing. Hilltop Haven Farmstead will provide reasonable cooperation with required documentation but does not guarantee that an animal will qualify for entry into any particular state or destination.
Routine Care & Procedures
All kids will be disbudded (if not born polled), unless prior arrangements are made and the reservation is paid in full. Disbudding will be performed in accordance with Hilltop Haven Farmstead’s standard practices and at an age determined by the farm. Hilltop Haven Farmstead does not guarantee horn bud removal will be cosmetically perfect or that scurs will not develop.
Kids will receive CD/T vaccination according to Hilltop Haven Farmstead’s standard vaccination schedule before leaving the farm, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Buyer is responsible for obtaining veterinary advice regarding future vaccination and booster requirements.
Wethers will be banded when appropriate and at an age determined by Hilltop Haven Farmstead.
Health, Quarantine, & Biosecurity
Hilltop Haven Farmstead represents that, to the best of its knowledge, the animal is free from any known illness or contagious disease that would make the animal unsuitable for ordinary transfer at the time of transfer. No representation or warranty is made that the animal is free from every disease, parasite, genetic condition, congenital condition, latent defect, or future illness.
Buyer is encouraged to have the animal examined by a veterinarian of Buyer’s choice before purchase or promptly after pickup. Buyer is responsible for quarantine and biosecurity practices after the animal leaves Hilltop Haven Farmstead.
Hilltop Haven Farmstead may update its general Farm Policies from time to time. The version of the Farm Policies in effect when a reservation or purchase agreement is completed will apply to that transaction, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
